Intelligent, emotional, and brutally honest, My Amends is a powerful, high-energy hard rock band from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, pushing the boundaries of Post-Punk-Grunge-Hardcore. After years of performing together, they’ve amassed a massive, die-hard following of fans through their intense live performances, and their impressive releases. With commanding vocals and radiant melodies, My Amends brings a distinctive sound that resonates with a wider, more non-traditional audience. “It’s like if you took Deftones, Tool, Misery Signals, 36 Crazyfists, Thrice, and Glassjaw, and threw them all in the blender with some ice then drank ’em all at the same time like a post-hardcore, nu-metal-core, indie hard rock smoothie…” says primary songwriter and lead vocalist Justin Dailey. With a decidedly aggressive presentation, the band also has a message of balance, spiritual healing, and unity. But rather than an introspective approach, My Amends use their music as a cathartic creative outlet and take their inner emotions and project them outward in a relentless assertiveness, using their music to exorcise their own demons while alternately celebrating the simple freedoms of unabashed self-expression. “It’s about looking inside for strength, doing what you love and staying true to yourself, no matter what the odds.”
Their 2011 full-length debut release, ‘Acceptions’, was selected as an iTunes “New & Noteworthy Rock Album of the Week,” included on AOL’s “Listening Party,” chosen as Melodic.net’s “Artist of the Week,” and lead single “Slaves” was selected as one of five featured tracks on the UK’s Zippo Encore site. An intense, raw, and honest record containing Dailey’s bold vocals and lyrics, sizzling and original guitar of Matt Ruffini and Devin Estep (also on background vocals), the driving locked-in bass of Danny Wyler, and the explosive yet fluid drums of Joey Calero, “all of these songs really hit home on personal levels with all of us – trials and tribulations are documented in these songs and I know they’ve personally helped me get through some tough times” says Calero. The follow-up to the band’s critically acclaimed EP titled That Of A Lion, Acceptions is a formidable musical statement that at times expresses the band’s collective angst, while at the same time implicitly reflects their desire to keep up the continuing fight for non-conformity.
Not for the faint-of-heart, this is a band that makes powerful, compelling, emotional musical declarations with little regret and their own unique sense of style. Formed in 2008, My Amends have been building a massive fanbase through countless shows and national tours, performing their unforgettable live show and sharing the stage with notable bands such as Every Time I Die, The Sleeping, Poison the Well, Vanna, and Strait Line Stitch, among others. Their music has also been placed for major brands ESPN and WWE action figures web campaigns.
My Amends will release a new EP called ‘Acceptions +’ in September 2012; a conjugal but still separate entity from their 2011 album Acceptions, it will include previously exclusive tracks, songs recorded between tours, and a full band version of their song “I’d Like You To See“, which tells the story of the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, and for which the band will donate all profit to human rights organizations. Acceptions + will also be the 3rd record that the band records with long-time friend and producer Adrian Morales-Demori, and with their current label Ingenious Records.
