THE NATIONAL PARKS
Drawing comparisons to bands like The Lumineers, Mumford & Sons, Of Monsters and Men, and Noah and the Whale, this three-piece indie folk band from Provo, Utah brings a sound that is contemporary, organic, and uniquely timeless. Made up of Brady Parks (vocals, guitar, kick drum) Sydney MacFarlane (keyboard, vocals, tambourine, glockenspiel) and Bae Sorenson (violin, vocal harmonies), The National Parks create songs with foot stomping beats, soul lingering melodies, and deep hearted lyrics that widely resonate with their listeners. As their name suggests, the trio gathers inspiration from nature and the outdoors, creating full, sweeping instrumentals and warm, lush harmonies that instantly evoke breathtaking imagery and epic landscapes.
The National Parks released their debut album,Young, in September 2013 which quickly rose to #13 on the iTunes singer/songwriter chart. In January of 2014 the band released a new single, As We Ran, commissioned by The National Park Experience for the film Love In The Tetons. With the song’s positive spirit and punch of energy from the very first downbeat, it hit top 40 on the iTunes singles chart and 400,000+ plays on Spotify. The band is currently in the studio working on their second album with an anticipated release in May 2015.
The National Parks energetic live performances have backed up the success of their album, playing shows in Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, Utah, Illinois, Nevada, New York, Washington, and Wisconsin, and sharing the stage with performers such as Andy Grammer, LeAnn Rimes, Matt Costa, The Black Lillies, Joshua James, Tyler Glen (Neon Trees), and Mates of State to name a few. Notable performances include a CMJ Music Marathon showcase in New York City, an AudioTree Live session in Chicago, and a festival performance at Make Music Pasadena in California.
